Word on the Web is a new Rihanna song has leaked. Titled “World Peace,” the track surfaced online and has been connected to her upcoming eighth studio album, R8. But we’re not so sure.

“World Peace” finds the Bajan bad gal in a throwback dance music space, much like her past jams “Where Have You Been” and “We Found Love,” which both appeared on her Talk That Talk album. The track sounds like 2011 Rihanna – not like something she’s been cooking up with Esther Dean and Ne-Yo (see: this actual snippet).

Back in May, VIBE chatted with Stargate’s Tor Erik about Rihanna’s upcoming project. He noted that the pop princess had improved vocally, something that is also not evident on this rumored “leak.”

“She has grown as a vocalist,” he said. “So now when she sings a song she enhances it immensely. I think we are digging even deeper when it comes to songwriting. We are still keeping it fresh and sexy because that’s who she is. That’s Rihanna’s personality. But as a vocalist she can handle more things.”
