Jennifer Lopez Can't Dance With Her World of Dance Co-Host Derek Hough

Last night on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, dancer Derek Hough, who is currently a judge on World of Dance, hosted by Jenna Dewan and executive produced by Jennifer Lopez, spoke about working with J.Lo.

"I've actually banned myself from dancing with Jennifer," he confessed to ET. "I always have a pretty good partner I would say, but with her, I somehow knock heads or we're falling over each other. It's kind of funny. I get lost in her eyes and I mess up."

Despite being intimidated by Lopez, Hough has nothing but great things to say about his boss and fellow judge, admitting she's a great boss.

Hough, 33, who has won two Emmy awards for outstanding choreography on Dancing with the Stars, also spoke about a group he started with his sister, dancer Julianne Hough. "I was in a band, a little pop group with my sister, Julianne, and my friend, Mark, [called] 2B1G—two boys, one girl. So original."

2B1G almost had a shot at stardom though. "A gentleman came to the house and saw us perform and it was actually Simon Cowell before American Idol and everything like that," Hough recalled. "I saw him on TV and I was like, 'Hey, that's the guy who came to the house and watched us sing and dance and stuff.' He actually stayed and ate dinner as well and then left and then probably said, 'Not impressed.'"

Hough will next star in a solo tour, Derek Hough: Live! The Tour. "I'm so excited about this tour," Hough, who has toured with his sister in past, said. "One of the things I really wanted to incorporate with this tour, [is to] make it feel different."

Hough, who was born to Mormon parents in Sandy, Utah, comes from a dancing family. His four grandparents were dancers, and his parents first met on a ballroom dancing team in college. When he was 12, his parents divorced and sent him and his sister to live and study with dance coaches Corky and Shirley Ballas in London. Hough remained with the Ballas family for 10 years. He attended the Italia Conti Academy of Theatre Arts, founded in 1911 by the actress Italia Conti, along with Mark Ballas, the couple’s son, and was trained in song, theater, gymnastics, and dance. As well as being a proficient dancer, Hough also plays the piano, guitar, and drums.
