There are people who will pay big bucks to own a piece of Elvis Presley, and one of the most recent pieces of the rockstar’s memorabilia to sell was his private jet.

According to reports, the 1962 Lockheed 1329 JetStar was auctioned off for $260,000. The starting big was $100,000, but the price rose steadily until an anonymous telephone bidder scooped up the jet.

It’s unclear what kind of condition the jet is in. For the last 40 years, the jet has been parked in the desert at the Roswell International Air Center in New Mexico.

Elvis’ ex-wife, Priscilla Presley, as there to witness the sale. “This is my first auction,” she said at the star, before taking a seat to watch the bidding commence.

The auction was held at Florida’s Mecum Kissimmee Collector Car last month, on what would’ve been Elvis Presley’s 88th birthday.

The musical legend was known for his affinity for vehicles and aircrafts. It’s been reported that his collection would’ve been worth £5million (or $6 million USD) by today’s standards.

His most expensive car was a BMW 507, which he bought while station in Germany during his military service. The luxury BMW would cost around £2million ($3.3 million USD) today, which is explained by the car’s rarity – only 252,507 models were ever produced.

One his Elvis’ other most expensive cars was a bright pink Cadillac Fleetwood Series 60. He loved the car so much that he bought a second one after the original was ruined in a car crash, even painting the replacement pink, too.

The car is on display at the Elvis Graceland museum, and is worth around £400,000 ($647,458 USD).

His 1969 Mercedes-Benz sold for nearly $1 million. Though it was considered one of his less luxurious rides, it was the car Elvis used the most to get around in, which explains why it eventually went for such a higher price.

It’s been nearly 50 years since Elvis’ death in 1977, but his legacy remains strong. Last year, Baz Luhrmann’s Elvis was released to critical acclaim. Austin Butler starred as the titular character, and even had the approval of Elvis’ family over his performance.

The film is considered a commercial success. It brought in $287.3 million worldwide, while it had a budget of $85 million.
